Rahul Dravid praised in Pieteren's Book
By : UnknownDubs Dravid as a 'Genuine Guru'
It is a highly substantial news for the followers of The Wall as he is the first person to be praised genuinely in the otherwise "score settling" book.
Kevin Pietersen praised the way Dravid motivated him & improved his playing technique and labels him as "a Genuine Guru". Pietersen writes, “Rahul was a great and heroic Indian batsman in his day. He is also a genius at dealing with spin bowlers. Our conversations and emails were a private masterclass from a genuine guru.
"Rahul improved my cricket and helped me develop the way I think about the game. His generosity will stay with me always."
“My playing of spin has gone up a number of levels since I’ve spent time in the IPL, and in particular, since I’ve spoken to Rahul Dravid…In England, batsmen get taught to play with the spin against spin bowlers. In India, the best players of spin get taught to play against it.” he added.
Dravid's mail to Kevin Pietersen when asked for advice can be seen here:

Rahul Dravid is the most respected cricketer in world cricket, and comments from Pietersen in his book further solidified his image as an all-time Great.
Most Debatable Quotes from Kevin Pietersen's Autobiography
By : UnknownMuch awaited autobiography of Former England Cricketer Kevin Pietersen released on Thursday with expected fallout from the flamboyant batsman's career
ON COACH ANDY FLOWER
- A clique choked our team and Andy Flower let that clique grow like a bad weed.
- Andy Flower. Contagiously sour, Infectiously dour. He could walk into a room and suck all the joy out of it in five seconds. Just a Mood Hoover. That`s how I came to think of him.
ON THE ENGLAND AND WALES CRICKET BOARD (ECB)
- Money plays a part in my decisions, just as it has played a huge part in the ECB`s decisions. Like the decision to allow Allen Stanford to land his helicopter on the hallowed turf at Lord`s, bringing with him a box full of cash - $20 million in cash. I am straight up in it while the ECB are hypocritical.
- When we didn`t have success as a distraction, they needed a scapegoat. Preferably somebody big, boisterous and annoying. Somebody who left colourful footprints on the pristine white carpets.
- Textgate was different ... on nothing but rumours I was convicted of the greatest betrayal since Judas.
ON PETER MOORES, WHO WAS SACKED AS ENGLAND COACH IN JANUARY 2009 ON THE SAME DAY PIETERSEN WAS FORCED TO RESIGN AS CAPTAIN
- Moores had inherited a great team from Duncan Fletcher, but it was clear from our performances that he was turning wine into water.
- Where Duncan had given us freedom, Moores was tapping on our heads like a woodpecker all day, every day.
- (He was) like a triple espresso, so intense.
- I wanted Moores to sit on the back seat -- in hindsight I don`t think he`s actually capable of doing that. He never took his hands off the steering wheel for a moment.
- I saw Moores and (his then assistant) Flower as two parts of the same problem. However the ECB obviously saw my captaincy and Moores as two parts of the same problem. Peter and I never saw eye to eye.
ON HIS TEAM MATES MATT PRIOR, GRAEME SWANN, STUART BROAD
- The dressing room slowly became the territory of those biggest mouths among the bowlers -- and a wicketkeeper. They ran an exclusive club. If you were outside that clique, you were fair game for mocking, ridicule, bullying. That`s what those guys did.
- I’d spoken about the abuse on the field that Prior, Broad, Jimmy (Anderson) and Swann were giving the fielders. (Swann and Broad) argued that fielders should apologise to the bowlers if they’ve made a mistake. I just stood there and realised that it was the closest I’ve ever come to thinking I could willingly slap two guys on my own team.
- The way he (Prior) criticised people who`d made mistakes on the field to a playground or a workplace, this behaviour would be labelled as bullying. He does the managing upwards well. The schoolyard bully who is also teacher`s pet.
ON HIS SOUTH AFRICAN ROOTS
- Whatever passport I carry, I will always have South Africa in my heart. One big mistake was not respecting South Africa and what it stands for. When I scored my first hundred there, I should never, ever, have kissed the England badge on my helmet.
ON BEING MADE ENGLAND CAPTAIN IN 2008
- I was playing all forms of cricket, and playing them well. So I was elected. Or handed the poisoned chalice.
ON HIMSELF
- I don`t enjoy being ordinary.
- I think that me confronting mediocrity throughout my career has earned me this reputation of being destructive.

Humiliation all over for India
By : UnknownEngland demolish India to take the series 3-1
The Indian Innings was demolished for the 2nd time in 3 days, this time touching a new level of humiliation as they were bundled out for a mere 94 inside 30 overs. Sir Don Bradman had a better career average than this!! Such a shame for 11 men who boast of world class batting line-up who couldnt get past 100.
Being an Indian Cricket Fan, I feel devastated, and I am not able to comment more on this as I am in shambles right now just like the Indian Batting.

The dismal performance of the Visitors can be summed up in some short sentences depicting the key points of the 3rd Test at Old Trafford, Manchester:-
- India won the toss & elected to Bat.
- Vijay, Kohli, Pujara dismissed for 0 each, India scampered to 8-4.
- Indian innings folded up at 152 after some resistance from Dhoni (71), Ashwin (40) & Rahane (24).

England Pacers spell Doom for India
By : UnknownEngland dominate on Day 1
England v India, 4th Investec Test, Old Trafford, 1st day
England 113 for 3 (Bell 45*, Jordan 0*) trail India 152 (Dhoni 71, Ashwin 40, Broad 6-25) by 39 runs
Manchester: Stuart Broad scalped 6 Indian Batsmen as India were bowled out for just 152 on the 1st day of the 4th Test at Old Trafford on Thursday.
India's final total featured a determined 71 from captain MS Dhoni, who opted to bat first after winning the toss in overcast conditions, after they had been reduced to 8 runs for 4 wickets.
However India registered themselves into Record Books as this was the worst start to the 1st innings of a Test since England were 2 for 4 against South Africa at Johannesburg in 1999.
At stumps on day 1, England were 113/3, trailing by 39.
Ian Bell was 45* & nightwatchman Chris Jordan unbeaten without opening his account after Gary Ballance (37) fell to Aaron late in the day.
Stuart Broad took 6/ 25 in 13.4 overs, including a post-lunch spell of 4/6 in 3.3 overs. Partner James Anderson had figures of 3/46 in 14 overs on his home ground.
Anderson had comeinto this match under a cloud for his persistent 'sledging', but this time, he let the ball do the talking.
But few India batsmen, Dhoni apart, lingered long enough at the crease for it to become an issue on Thursday.
India also equalled the record of 6 ducks in a Test innings, with 3 of their top 4 out for a duck.
Apart from Dhoni, the only other India batsmen to make it into double figures were R Ashwin (40) & Rahane (24).
All of India's intial 4 wickets fell with their score on 8, the 4 batsmen dismissed in the space of 13 balls.
Gautam Gambhir, opening in place of Shikhar Dhawan was first out when he nicked Broad to Joe Root in the gully, followed by Vijay(0), Kohli(0) & Pujara(0).
Commonwealth Games End with England on Top
By : UnknownGlasgow: England finished on top of the Medal Tally in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014. It was their first time after 28 long years. But the former table-toppers Australia also had some consolation wins.
As soon as the Day started, England were already going to stay at No.1 position, dethroning Australia.
The last day had just 11 Gold Medals on the line. Lizzie Armitstead bagged the first gold for England in the women`s cycling road race upgrading her performance 4 years ago in New Dehli.
Fellow English rider Emma Pooley finished 25 seconds behind to finish second and add to the silver she won in the time trial.
Geraint Thomas from Wales won gold in the men`s 168km road race.
Thomas, thrived despite having a puncture with 6km still to go to finish in a time of 4 hours 13 minutes & 5 seconds.
Australia yet again thumped India 4-0 in mens hockey final to win a 5th consecutive Commonwealth title, & later finished 1st in netball with a 58-40 win over the Kiwis, who beat them 4 years ago.
Kashyap Parupalli from India was a popular winner in the men`s singles title in Badminton as he beat Derek Wong of Singapore in a three-game classic to win gold.
"I`m so happy," said the 27-year-old Indian. "This championship means such a lot to me. These Games come every four years and that`s what drove me on."

Steven Finn gets England Recall ahead of 4th Test
By : UnknownPacer called in as a replacement for Plunkett
Steven Finn had what can be described as a horrific time Down Under over the winter, with his bowling falling to the point where he became un-selectable, despite England suffering an Ashes humiliation.
The 6 foot 7 inches tall lad has shown signs of his best form for Middlesex on return this season, doing just enough to convince England selectors he deserves his chance on the international stage once again, with Liam Plunkett suffering from an ankle problem.
"Liam Plunkett experienced some left ankle discomfort at the end of the second Investec Test and will miss the fourth Test as this continues to settle," said the England and Wales Cricket Board's official website.
"He will be replaced by Steven Finn in the squad for the upcoming Test at Emirates Old Trafford."
England Complete their "Perfect Test"
By : UnknownEngland v India, 3rd Investec Test, Ageas Bowl, 5th day
| Anderson after dismissing Rohit Sharma |
Skipper Alastair Cook remarked during the presentation that it was "indeed a perfect test match for the team".
Yes indeed it was, their Batsmen put runs on the board, most importantly Cook scoring 95 & 70*, their fast bowlers cleaned up India's 1st innings, and the part-timer Moeen Ali displaying the attributes of an All-Rounder.
The Off-Spinner bagged 6 wickets to grant England to a cruising 266-run victory over India on 5th day that leaves the series at 1-1 with 2 matches to go.
India crumbled to 178 all out in their 2nd innings on Thursday morning thanks to Ali's superb figures of 6/67, his 1st 5-wicket haul in tests.
England thus, secured their 1st Test victory since they beat Australia at Durham last August, ending their 10-mach winless streak.
Moeen dismissed Jadeja, B Kumar & Shami within 12 deliveries, before he bagged the final wicket of Pankaj Singh.
Earlier, James Anderson, led England off to the perfect start by getting the key wickets of Rohit Sharma & MS Dhoni.
India's lone warrior Ajinkya Rahane played with tremendous composure scoring his 2nd half-century of the match, but his unbeaten 52 was in vain as he got little to no support from the other end.
Anderson got Sharma to edge one faintly through to the debutant wicket-keeper Buttler before dismissing Dhoni in similar a fashion with a ball that swung away from the right-handed batsman.
Just then captain Cook made a crucial bowling change, by bringing Moeen who bowled Jadeja before getting Kumar's wicket, who edged on to his pad and the ball looped up to Anderson at gully.
He continued to trouble the Indian batsmen & bowled Shami and Singh to wrap up a well-deserved victory for the side.
The 4th Test will take place on 7-11 August at Old Trafford, Manchester.
