Real Madrid defeat Barcelona 3-1 in season's first El Classico
- Barcelona's front-3 combined within 3 minutes to fire the first goal.
- Neymar opened the scoring for Barca with a superd goal in the 3rd minute thanks to a brilliant cross by Louis Suarez who looked great in the first half but rusty in the 2nd& ultimately was substituted in the 69th minute.
- Ronaldo leveled with style in the 34th minute thanks to Gerrard Pique who appeared to slip and accidentally conceded a penalty.
- Madrid went 2-1 ahead in the 50th minute with a bullet-header from defender Pepe on Toni Kroos' well crafted corner kick.
- Barcelona left themselves dangerously open at the back in an attempt to equalize but it backfired into a team move for Real as Iniesta played in to Ronaldo who connected with James Rodriguez to find Benzema for a through-ball. Benzema thus, sealing the victory for Real Madrid in the 61st minute with the scoreline reading 3-1.
- Lionel Messi missed several chances mainly due to being bogged down by too many Madrid defenders.
- Luka Modric & Toni Kroos controlled the pace in the Midfield.
- Iker Casillas had a superb game and answered his critics who questioned his place in the Madrid side.

22-year old Neymar named Brazil captain for Colombia friendly
Neymar will captain Brazil in their friendly against Colombia on Saturday and received a ringing endorsement from his national team manager Dunga.
Thiago Silva, who was captain under previous coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is absent from the squad and won't feature in this round of friendlies.
The 22 year-old will become one of Brazil's youngest captains but Dunga insisted that he has all the skills to make him the perfect for the role.

Suarez, Neymar makes returns for Barcelona
Neymar was cleared to play just hours before the game but he showed no signs of any injury & netted twice in the 12th & 44th minute after setting up the opening goal for Lionel Messi in the 3rd minute.
Barcelona youth forwards Munir El Haddadi scored in the 54th & 77th and Sandro Ramirez added another in the 89th.
Both Neymar & Suarez were given a warm welcome by the fans. Neymar was shined as he was fully exposed, however Suarez managed a few touches in his 15-minute stay coming on in the 75th minute as a substitute.
This was the last match Suarez will play for Barca till his ban on playing competitive matches is lifted on 25th October. Barcelona start their Spanish league campaign against Elche on Sunday.

Strikers expected to play alongside for the first time
Brazilian star striker Neymar has been cleared to play for the first time since suffering a broken vertebra in his back during the 2-1 victory against Colombia in the QuarterFinal of World Cup when Barcelona play Mexican side Club Leon on Monday.
Neymar could play for the first time with the club's new signing Luis Suarez as he is expected to make his Barcelona debut after being cleared to play in friendly matches last week by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, upholding the 4-month ban from competitive games.
Neymar missed out Brazil's further World Cup campaign which consisted of the disastrous 7-1 semi-final drubbing by Germany & the 3-0 loss to the Netherlands in the 3rd place play-off on home soil after suffering the injury when he was kneed in the back by Juan Camilo Zuniga.
However, the 22-year-old revealed that had the impact of Zuniga's knee been centimetres higher, he could have been left paralyzed.
Argentine sensation Lionel Messi is also likely to get his first outing since the heartbreaking loss in the World Cup final to Germany on Monday as the Catalan Club finalize their pre-season build up to the start of La Liga when they host Elche on Sunday.

Neymar suffered a fractured vertebrae, courtesy of a knee by Colombian defender Camilo Zuniga, which ended his world cup dream run prematurely. But after just under 6 weeks of rehabilitation, it was time for him to join Barcelona teammates for a full training session.

Neymar returns after Back Injury
Barcelona confirmed that star striker Neymar Jr has started his training after passing a medical test as he recovers from a fractured vertebra sustained a collision with Colombian defender Juan Camilo Zuniga during Brazil's 2-1 quarterfinal victory at the World Cup quarterfinals last month.
The 22-year-old Brazilian trained away from his teammates after being examined by team doctors on Tuesday.
The Catalan Club also welcomed back Argentina's star forward Lionel Messi, with a rather shocking hair-cut, after the hear-breaking loss in the World Cup Final.He was cleared to train on Tuesday after a standard medical exam as he begins his preseason preparations.
The club says Neymar's progress will decide when he rejoins the team for regular training.
Barcelona hosts Elche on August 24 in the opening match of the Spanish league season.

Neymar Jr Confident of Full Fitness
Neymar Jr is in Japan for a series of promotional events. He was very optimistic about his physical shape: “I am recovering from the injury day by day. I’ll be coming back to Barcelona 100% fit" he said to the Japanese Media.
Neymar Jr will return to FC Barcelona on the 5 August, & he expects himself to be fit for the Joan Gamper Trophy match. The 22-year-old Brazilian can’t wait to get started: "I want to have a really good season and I'm looking forward to helping my teammates to get some good results".
Neymar Jr. suffered a fracture in his third lumbar vertebra after a brutal knee in the back by Zuniga in the quarter-final match against Colombia in the FIFA World Cup 2014. Since then, he’s on recovery, following a treatment schedule in accordance with the Club Medical Services and the CBF.

Brazil star striker Neymar cried as he recalled the injury, saying "God blessed" him and prevented a more serious injury. Neymar had to stop talking for several seconds, lowering his head and putting a hand in front of his eyes.
Brasilia, Brazil: Neymar became emotional when talking Thursday about the injury that ruled him out of the World Cup, saying that if the knee to his back had been slightly more to one side he "could be in a wheelchair" right now.
The Brazil striker cried as he recalled the injury, saying "God blessed" him and prevented a more serious injury. Neymar had to stop talking for several seconds, lowering his head and putting a hand in front of his eyes.
"It's difficult to talk about a move that (happened) in such an important moment of my career," he said.
Neymar fractured his third vertebra when defender Juan Camilo Zuniga hit him from behind in a challenge late in the quarterfinal match against Colombia.
"If it had been 2 centimeters to the center...," he said, struggling to stay composed. "I could be in a wheelchair."
The 22-year-old striker complained about Zuniga's challenge, although he said the Colombian called to apologize.
"I don't know if he was trying to hurt me, but if you understand football you know that it was not a normal challenge," Neymar said. "I can't protect myself when I'm not facing the play. The only thing that can protect me from someone coming from behind are the rules. I couldn't protect myself and I ended getting hurt."
Neymar had been recovering at home but returned to the team's training camp on Thursday. He will travel with the squad to Brasilia to support them in the third-place match against the Netherlands on Saturday.
Neymar said the injury led to "the worst week of his life," one that culminated - in his absence - with Brazil's 7-1 thrashing by Germany in the semifinals. He said he didn't know how to explain what happened, and that it would be "unfair for this group" to be remembered by that result alone.
"It would have been all right to lose, but not like this. It was unbelievable, inexplicable," Neymar said. "I don't have the words to explain what happened."
He said the loss was "part of football," and that he thought Brazil had the potential to rebound and win the next World Cup.
"We can't lower our heads," he said. "It will hurt for a long time, but better days will come."
He wished luck to Germany and Argentina in Sunday's final, but said he hopes the South Americans will come out on top. He plays at Barcelona with Argentina stars Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano.
"I'm not cheering for Argentina, I'm cheering for my teammates," he said.
Neymar said that it would be good for football to have Messi winning a world title.
"He deserves to be a world champion," he said. "I'm Messi Football Club."
Germans kick Brazil out, move to Final

Germany have advanced to the FIFA World Cup Final with a sensational 7-1 drubbing of Brazil at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte. The brilliance of Joachim Low's side was matched only by the ineptitude of the hosts, who suffered their heaviest-ever defeat and became the first team to concede seven in a knockout match at the world finals.
Most of the pre-match coverage had focused on the impact of Neymar's absence but, once the game got underway, it was clear that Thiago Silva - Brazil's captain and defensive rock - was the man they would miss most. Without him, A Seleção's defending was shambolic, with Germany able to slice their way through at will.
The tone was set by the opening goal after just 11 minutes, when Thomas Muller was allowed to steal in completely unmarked to casually volley home from Tony Kroos's outswinging corner. But there was no lesson learned. The hosts' defence continued to afford Germany's forwards the freedom of the penalty area, and it was no surprise when they were ruthlessly punished again 12 minutes later.
Salt was rubbed in Brazilian wounds by the identity of the goalscorer, with Miroslav Klose not only doubling the Germans' lead, but taking his World Cup tally to 16 to surpass Seleção legend Ronaldo as the tournament's record scorer. Again, the marking was non-existent, with the Lazio striker allowed two shots from close range, the first of which was blocked by Julio Cesar, with the second slotted routinely inside the right-hand post.
It was the spark for an incredible six-minute period, during which the Brazilian net bulged four times. Next up, with the pick of Germany's goals, was Tony Kroos, who crashed in a first-time left-foot shot from the edge of the area after Muller had mis-kicked from Philipp Lahm's low cross. The Bayern Munich midfielder was impressive throughout and, a minute later, he made it 3-0 with another goal that owed much to Brazil's hesitant defending.
The guilty man on this occasion was Fernandinho, who allowed himself to be robbed by Kroos midway inside his own half and could only watch as the Germany No18 exchanged passes with Sami Khedira before passing into the net with Julio Cesar stranded. Even at this early stage, it was clear that the game was over as a contest, but though the Mineirao crowd was stunned, there was much, much worse to follow.
Germany's fifth goal was a near carbon copy of their fourth, though with Khedira the finisher rather then the supplier, side-footing confidently home from Mesut Ozil's pass. Brazil had not conceded five goals in a World Cup match since 1938, and while they won on that occasion - beating Poland 6-5 - there was never any chance of a comeback here.
Indeed, It took until the second half for Brazil to provide any kind of response, and even then they found Manuel Neuer in typically imposing form. The German keeper has been one of the players of the tournament and he again shone, first in blocking Oscar's outside-of-the-foot shot and then in pulling off a fantastic double save from substitute Paulinho when a goal seemed certain.
As it was, when the net next bulged, it was a German replacement who was celebrating. Again, the ease with which the Europeans scored was staggering, with Lahm given time and space to pick out Thomas Schurrle for the most straightforward of close-range finishes. And Germany weren't finished yet, with Schurrle again finding acres of space to control and volley left-footed off the underside of the bar, completing the hosts' suffering. Oscar did score a fine last-minute goal, evading Jerome Boateng before shooting high beyond Neuer, but to describe it as a consolation would be stretching the truth.
It was merely the final act of a match that will be forever remembered by all who witnessed it, and which leaves Brazil to wallow in misery and Germany to plan a Maracana meeting with Argentina or the Netherlands.

Rio de Janeiro: Brazil football star Neymar said on Saturday that his dream of playing in the World Cup final had been stolen from him by a fractured vertebrae inflicted by a Colombia defender.
"They took away my dream of playing in a World Cup final, but the dream of being world champion has not ended," Neymar said in remarks released by the Brazilian football federation. (Youthful Neymar carried hopes of a nation)

Neymar was ruled out of the rest of the World Cup after Colombian defender Juan Zuniga kneed him in the back in a challenge in Friday's quarter-final. Brazil play Germany in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
FIFA said it is investigating the incident to see whether disciplinary proceedings are necessary. And Zuniga again insisted Saturday that there was no malicious intent in his challenge.
"I deeply regret the sad injury suffered by Neymar during the game between Brazil and Colombia," the defender said in a letter sent to Neymar that was quoted by the Colombian Football Federation.
"This situation resulted from normal game action and there was no ill-intent, malice or negligence on my part," Zuniga added. (Who will replace Neymar?)
Neymar was collecting the ball in the 88th minute, with his side leading 2-1, when Zuniga launched a jumping challenge from behind and kneed the Brazilian in the lower part of his back.
Doctors said Neymar fractured the third vertebrae in his lower back. He was stretchered off the field in agony.

Neymar Jr ruled out of World Cup (+Video)
Brazil paid a heavy price for their 2-1 quarter-final defeat of Colombia in Fortaleza on Friday, with star man Neymar suffering a fractured vertebra that will cause him to miss the rest of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™.
After being carried off in tears on a stretcher, Neymar was taken to the city’s Hospital Sao Carlos, where it was confirmed that his third vertebra had been broken. The news that neither his team nor his country wanted to hear was announced by the Brazil’s medical staff at the Estadio Castelao.
“Neymar had a scan, which confirmed he had fractured his third vertebra,” said Brazilian Football Association (CBF) doctor Rodrigo Lasmar. “In terms of the recovery process, it’s a fracture that heals quickly, but unfortunately he’ll be in no condition to play next week.”
Lasmar added: “It’s not serious in the sense that it requires surgery, but he’s in pain and he’ll need to immobilise it to recover. He’ll have to have it immobilised with a belt for a few weeks to be able to get back to full mobility.”
Neymar sustained the injury in the closing stages of the match, under a challenge from a Colombian defender. The sight of the stricken No10 being carried off and then taken to hospital for scans dampened the spirits of the Brazil fans as they celebrated their side’s qualification for the last four.
While the confirmation that Neymar’s tournament is over was greeted with dismay and sadness, his team-mates are already thinking about how to make up for his absence, Hulk among them. “It’s very sad news,” said the forward. “Nobody expected this.
“We are delighted with the win but sad about this news. It’s all very frustrating. Neymar really looks after himself. He was so excited about the World Cup and he’d helped us so much. We have to get over this and run even harder for him. We’re going to try and be the champions anyway and dedicate the title to him.”
Neymar has been one of A Seleção’s stand-out performers at the World Cup, scoring four goals, but will now have to watch from the sidelines when Brazil take on Germany in next Tuesday’s semi-final in Belo Horizonte.
