Tendulkar doesn't find Sharapova Disrespectful

Sachin Tendulkar, the wise man that he is, told NDTV that he didn't expect Maria Sharapova to know who he was since the Russian player didn't follow cricket.
He said: "Sharapova's comments were not disrespectful. She doesn't follow cricket."
A section of Tendulkar's fans created a massive hue and cry after media reports said the tennis Grand Slam champion wasn't aware of Tendulkar's name.
During Wimbledon, when Sharapova was asked at her post-match press conference is she knew that a cricket icon had come to see her play, the five-time Grand Slam champion said she had met David Beckham a few times but wasn't familiar with Tendulkar.
"Sachin Tendulkar was the other person who came in at the same time as David. Do you know who Sachin is?" The French Open winner flatly replied: "I don't."
Tendulkar is a regular visitor at the Royal Box during Wimbledon. He is a good friend of Roger Federer.

Serena Williams Out of Swedish Open
Stockholm:Serena Williams just pulled out of next week's Swedish Open after failing to recover from the illness which ended her Wimbledon campaign dramatically.
The 32-year-old American World Number 1, the defending champion at the Bastad claycourt event, withdrew from the Wimbledon doubles after suffering from a "viral illness".
"I decided not to play in Bastad, because I am still not feeling 100%," Williams said.
"Bastad was my favourite tournament I played in last year, thus I am very disappointed not to come back there. But there is still next year, so I can't wait to go back there."
"I want to be in perfect condition to go back on court, but unfortunately it's not the case. I really hope to be able to get back to training from next week."
Williams was defeated in the 4th round at this year's Wimbledon before she retired from her doubles second-round match with sister Venus after almost fainting & serving 4 double faults in a performance which made for uncomfortable viewing.

14 time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer and Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn haven’t hid their admiration for each other.
Vonn, a noted tennis fan, was present at Rolland Garrosin to watch Federer win his 14th Grand Slam title at the French Open in 2009, and the Swiss is friends with Vonn’s boyfriend, Tiger Woods.
On Wednesday, they teamed up to play an exhibition match on the Aletsch Glacier in Switzerland to promote the opening of a Lindt chocolate shop. Federer is a global ambassador for the company.
