England dominate on Day 1

England v India, 4th Investec Test, Old Trafford, 1st day

Manchester: Stuart Broad scalped 6 Indian Batsmen as India were bowled out for just 152 on the 1st day of the 4th Test at Old Trafford on Thursday.
India's final total featured a determined 71 from captain MS Dhoni, who opted to bat first after winning the toss in overcast conditions, after they had been reduced to 8 runs for 4 wickets.
However India registered themselves into Record Books as this was the worst start to the 1st innings of a Test since England were 2 for 4 against South Africa at Johannesburg in 1999.
At stumps on day 1, England were 113/3, trailing by 39.
Ian Bell was 45* & nightwatchman Chris Jordan unbeaten without opening his account after Gary Ballance (37) fell to Aaron late in the day.
Stuart Broad took 6/ 25 in 13.4 overs, including a post-lunch spell of 4/6 in 3.3 overs. Partner James Anderson had figures of 3/46 in 14 overs on his home ground.
Anderson had comeinto this match under a cloud for his persistent 'sledging', but this time, he let the ball do the talking.
But few India batsmen, Dhoni apart, lingered long enough at the crease for it to become an issue on Thursday.
India also equalled the record of 6 ducks in a Test innings, with 3 of their top 4 out for a duck.
Apart from Dhoni, the only other India batsmen to make it into double figures were R Ashwin (40) & Rahane (24).
All of India's intial 4 wickets fell with their score on 8, the 4  batsmen dismissed in the space of 13 balls.
Gautam Gambhir, opening in place of Shikhar Dhawan was first out when he nicked Broad to Joe Root in the gully, followed by Vijay(0), Kohli(0) & Pujara(0).
